Our plans for new senior living residences in Towson really stirred up some excitement.
Edenwald has been serving Baltimore area seniors for more than 140 years, and we’re excited to announce our planned independent living expansion, which will allow even more seniors to experience our culture of lifelong learning and personal growth. We recently met with groups of local seniors to preview those plans and get their feedback. We were delighted with the outcome.

For the past couple of years, Edenwald has been in the early stages of an expansion plan for our Towson, Maryland senior living community. The project recently reached an exciting milestone when, in mid-June, we were able to share preliminary plans with members of the greater community.
The research groups received an overview of Life Plan Communities in general and Edenwald in particular before discussing the planned expansion and seeing some preliminary exterior renderings.

As members of the research groups learned, the expansion will include 127 new senior living apartments with a variety of floor plans that will be some of the most spacious on the market. These planned residences will be exceptionally stylish with modern amenities, open-concept layouts, full gourmet kitchens and balconies that offer stunning views.
Our expansion plans also include a host of new amenities. A rooftop event center with a beautiful view of the Goucher College campus will provide a perfect venue for social gatherings and cultural events. Creative learning spaces and classrooms will be home to new lifelong learning opportunities. Additionally, a new café will open onto a beautifully landscaped commons – an ideal spot for mingling and casual get-togethers.

More than 125 participants gathered across four focus groups to learn about our expansion plans and share their thoughts. This included people who were already on our waiting list, those who had previously inquired about the community, as well as seniors residing in the area. All were eager to learn more about the Edenwald expansion and provide feedback.
Interest in senior living was very high among participants, and many are already considering senior living communities for their futures. After seeing preliminary renderings and initial plans, 88% of participants had a very favorable or favorable view of our expansion. They were also excited to learn that the expansion would be directly connected to Edenwald’s current independent living amenities.

The groups shared their thoughts regarding the mix of floor plans, including design features and more. (The open concept floor plans were especially well received.) We have already provided this feedback to the architect, who will be incorporating it into our development plans. We thank the groups for their invaluable input.
Additionally, response was so positive that the majority of participants said they wanted more information on the expansion plans as they progress, and nearly 30 individuals or couples placed a priority deposit to ensure their place in line.

Beyond the expansion, Edenwald is expanding our programming focused on lifelong learning opportunities for seniors. Our leadership, residents and community members have been working together to shape these new offerings, which promise to be rich in learning and personal growth opportunities.
